Vignaverde Grillo Sicilia PDO - 2023
- Tax included.
Crafted from 100% Grillo grapes, Vignaverde embodies the vibrant essence of Contrada Samperi, Marsala. Thanks to the cooler and less intense 2013 vintage, the Samperi vineyard showcased a lush and verdant vitality, yielding grapes with unexpected green tones. This provided the ideal foundation for a youthful and lively wine, highlighting the unique character of Grillo and its distinctive terroir.
With vines planted in 1996 and trained using the single Guyot system, the vineyard boasts 3,500 vines per hectare, producing low yields of 60 tons per hectare. Harvest begins in the second to third week of August, with the grapes meticulously hand-picked and soft-pressed. The must undergoes natural decantation at cool temperatures for 48 hours before fermentation begins with wild yeasts in stainless steel vats. Minimal sulfites are added to preserve the wine's integrity.
The wine is then aged for six months on its own lees in stainless steel tanks, resulting in a fresh, fragrant, and lively expression of Grillo.
