Sciara's top wine, from a single parcel of own-rooted Nerello Mascalese at 630 metres, vines over a century old, among the few pre-phylloxera plantings left on Etna. Aged largely in amphora and sandstone with a portion in fibreglass. Warm and rounded, with fine-grained tannins, red cherries and wild strawberries, and a peppery, grainy, faintly tarry complexity underneath. Real concentration and energy for something this supple. A wine to sit with, not rush.
