Nostranu Cannonau di Sardegna DOC - 2022

DKK 169.00

Technical Sheet

Nostranu is a wine that represents the sunny landscapes and rich wine-making history of Sardinia. It's made from 100% Cannonau grapes that are grown on vines around 20 years old, at an altitude of 180 meters above sea level in soil that is permeable from weathered granite.
In early September, the grapes are harvested by hand, placing each cluster carefully in boxes. The grapes from the youngest vines are then destemmed and placed in steel vats. Alcoholic fermentation happens in contact with the grape skins, and this process continues for about 8 to 10 days, with daily hand punch-downs.
After that, the wine goes through malolactic fermentation in steel tanks. Aging takes about 8 months in steel tanks and then it undergoes further refinement in bottles for some more months before it's ready to be sold. The resulting wine, called "Nostranu" meaning native of the place, is a medium-bodied Cannonau that immediately pleases the palate and has a distinct smell.
Its fruity flavor, with hints of cherry and blackberry, comes from the youngest vines in the vineyard, specifically grown in the highly regarded cru of Oddoene.
