The Barolo DOCG Cerviano-Merli is a great wine made from 100% Nebbiolo grapes in Novello. The vineyard is at 400 meters above sea level, facing southeast, with soil rich in limestone. The 20-year-old vines are harvested in the second decade of October.

After careful harvesting, the wine ages for 18 months in big French oak barrels, gaining depth. It has a red garnet color with ruby-red hints. The smell is intense, with notes of withered rose and berries. The taste is dry, soft, and full-bodied, with a velvety texture and a long finish.

This Barolo Cerviano-Merli showcases the unique qualities of Novello and the artistry in winemaking. Enjoy its rich flavors and smooth texture with every sip.

Region

Piemonte

Piemonte’s terroir is shaped by its diverse landscape, with the Alps to the north and the Apennines to the south, creating a continental climate with cold winters, warm summers, and significant temperature shifts between day and night. These conditions help the grapes develop acidity, structure, and aromatic complexity. The region’s soils vary widely, influencing the character of its wines. In the Langhe, marl and clay with limestone-rich areas give Nebbiolo its power and aging potential, while Monferrato’s mix of sand and calcareous soils results in softer, fruitier expressions, particularly for Barbera and Dolcetto. Further north in Alto Piemonte, ancient volcanic and glacial deposits create mineral-rich soils that enhance Nebbiolo’s freshness and elegance. Rolling hills, foggy mornings, and well-drained soils across the region contribute to Piemonte’s ability to produce refined, long-lived wines that express a strong sense of place.
