Vermentino Riviera Ligure di Ponente DOC - 2019
Vermentino is a very antique grape variety originally coming from Spain but imported to Italy through southern France. Liguria is the first region where Vermentino was planted initially, for afterwards reaching other coastal regions around the peninsula. In 1988 this grape becomes officially part of the DOC Riviera Ligure di Ponente. In this location, the grape finds all the factors to express its best: warmth, sun, wind and proximity to the sea.
Podere Grecale is a relatively "young" winery, born 13 years ago from the desire of a father and a daughter to go back to their own origins after living a life away from their birthplace. Lino, the father, really wanted to taste the Vermentino that his ancestors use to make. After the first few harvests they realised to have fallen in love with what they were doing. This passion, gave birth to Podere Grecale.
The wine shows a bright yellow colour, with a fresh mineral character and aromas of crisp white fruit and citrus aromas. Fragrant on the nose, refreshing acidity on the palate with an elegant finish.
After a very gentle and short cold maceration, it ferments in controlled temperature in steel tanks to preserve characteristics and fruit. Maturation on fine lees over a period of 5 months before bottling.
