Tenzone Valpolicella Ripasso DOC Classico Superiore - 2018
Valpolicella blend, local variety as Corvina, Corvinone, Rondinella, Oseleta and others. This wine is the fantastic combination of a fresh Valpolicella style and the bigger Amarone wines.
Società Agricola Eleva adventure begins in the 1989 with Franca Maculan. The winery was flourishing in the first years but due to illness, Franca could not keep up with the daily hard work that has to be carried through the vineyards. Eventually, she donated the winery to a charity association which handed out the winery to Raffaella Veroli, oenologist and member of the association working together with Davide Gaeta - her professor at the university. They both kept alive the dream of Franca to make an outstanding winery in the legendary Valpolicella area. The winery is located in the Classico sub-zone in the commune of Sant'Ambrogio di Valpolicella Loc. Conca d'Oro. The winery focuses on the production of classic wines based on the local varieties, such as Valpolicella Classico, Ripasso, Recioto and the iconic Amarone della Valpolicella DOCG.
Bright ruby red medium concentrated. Intense ripe dark cherry and dark plum with hints of vanilla and cloves. Medium to full body wine with a smooth palate and long finish.
The vinification occurs in steel tanks and then in February the wine is refermented/macerated "ripasso" on the risidual lees of Amarone or Recioto della Valpolicella. After the wine is aged in wood barrel (25hl) for 18 months.
