Pigato Riviera Ligure di Ponente DOC - 2019
Pigato is the prince of the wines from Liguria region, which represents the typicality of the region itself: it is only farmed and recognised in two small sub-zones. We are not sure about the origins of this varietal but recent studies have proved to be a clone of the famous Vermentino grape, which found the perfect terroir in this sub-zones. This wine comes from a single vineyard with calcareous-clay soil, 200mt above the sea level.
Podere Grecale is a relatively "young" winery, born 13 years ago from the desire of a father and a daughter to go back to their own origins after living a life away from their birthplace. Lino, the father, really wanted to taste the wine that his ancestors use to make. After the first few harvests they realised to have fallen in love with what they were doing. This passion, gave birth to Podere Grecale.
Pigato wines show a bright yellow colour with green reflections in the glass. Very perfumed and intriguing on the nose, with enhanced minerality and fresh white flower notes.
After a very gentle and short cold maceration, the wine is racked off, it ferments in steel tanks at controlled temperature. Maturation on fine lees over a period of 5 months before bottling.
