Pinot Nero, leading grape variety for some of the most important wineries in the world. It is a fussy grape variety that needs the perfect terroir to deliver its precious fruit to make excellent wines. In Lombardy, this varietal is very popular for making sparkling wine. Oltrepò Pavese Metodo Classico DOC has gained in the last few years so much importance on an international level not to envy anything to the sparkling french neighbors.
Ca’ di Frara, founded by Giovanni Bellani in 1905, is located in the Oltrepò Pavese DOC's heart. Luca, the actual owner, great-grandnephew of Giovanni who bought few hectares more than 100 years ago, today exposed to the best climatic conditions to make excellent wines. The winery vineyards' are farmed in a natural method, with minimum intervention. Their mission is the respect the territory and the environment. The main grape varietals are Pinot Nero, Croatina, and Barbera for the reds, Riesling, and Pinot Grigio for the whites. In the last few years, the company has undertaken a path that leads towards high-level sustainability with packaging, water reuse, and renewable energy for the winery!
Description:
Star bright pale straw. Citrus, white pear, white blossom, delicate toast-yeasty character. Delicate mousse on the palate, great acid tension. Clean finish.
