Donna Chiara Irpinia Campi Taurasini DOC - 2018
Donna Chiara, a wine based on the Aglianico grape. A good example of the outstanding Irpinia area, rich in volcanic soil, where the vines are planted. The impeccable match creates a wine with bright fruit and acidity without lacking the more complex aroma from the terroir and barrel aging.
Colli di Lapio is situated 480 m above sea level and it has a dry and breezy climate ideal for winegrowing. In the 18th century, many small family owners grew Fiano grapes, including the Romano family. Then Clelia Romano established the winery in 1994 in Lapio, this commune produces wine based on the Fiano and Aglianico variety under the appellation of Fiano di Avellino DOCG and Taurasi DOCG but they have also vines in Tufo where it is located the area Greco di Tufo DOCG district, these are the most astonishing wine area of southern Italy.
Concentrate ruby red with pink variation to the rim. Hints of wild berries, dark plum, and violet, spice notes as black pepper and cloves. The wine is energetic on the palate with tannin well integrated. Long finish with dark plum, cloves, and tobacco.
The wine has fermented in steel tanks and matured both in barriques and steel vats.
