Friulano Valeris (Tocai Friulano) is a vigorous, fertile and productive grape variety that has french roots. It was deliberately called Tokai/Tocai in order to take advantage from the internationally known Tokaji from Hungary. In 2008, the European Union, under the pressure of the Hungarian government, approved to remove the word "Tocai" from all the Italian labels. Since then the Italians adopted the name Friulano for these wines. Valeris stands for the location where the vineyards are planted. Interesting fact is that this wine is made with very old vines of approximately 80-90 years old!

Ivan Muzic is been guiding the family company now for thirty years. His great passion for the nature and for his land makes him a free spirit born to live within his vineyard beside the weather or the season. Orieta, the wife, together with Elija and Fabian, the sons, have been supporting the father's passion both in the vineyards and in the cellar for years. The company holds 20 ha of planted vines and seems that there is no reason for stop growing. Their mission is firstly to respect three main objectives: growth, tradition and environment. This love for nature, its fruits, and the environment let them obtain the MAGIS certification, which guarantees the full environmental sustainability of the wines.

Description:

The wine shows a light straw yellow colour with a green tinge, crisp with apricots, peach and exotic fruit character and slight peppery nuances. On the palate is dry, perky with mineral scents and bitter almond notes. Alcohol and acidity give a consistent richness to the wine.
Vinification through de-stemming and crushing of the grapes following a maceration on the skin of 12 hours, at low temperature. Follows fermentation for 8-10 days and ageing on "fine lees" with lees stirring for at least 3 months.
