Colle Murello Umbria IGP - 2020
Colle Murello is a white wine with distinct character, rich texture thanks to a light oak aging, and enhanced minerality, made from Trebbiano Spoletino grapes. This variety was almost extinct but managed to be rescued thanks to the passion of the local winemakers in the 2000s.
Leonardo Bussoletti is a winemaker from the city of Narni. Narni is a historical city located in the Umbria region, right in the heart of Italy. Bussoletti is focused on bringing on the winemaking tradition of the area. In his portfolio, we find wines made with varieties such as Grechetto and Trebbiano Spoletino for the whites, while the reds only from the Ciliegiolo, another autochthonous grape of the region. Leonardo is the pioneer in producing Ciliegiolo wines, traditionally also used in the production of Chianti, but Bussoletti having recognized the potential of this grape he decided instead to produce mono-varietal wines. Thanks to him, Ciliegiolo is now more known around the world.
Star bright yellow color. Youthful profile, notes of lemon zest, white peaches, white flowers, and light oak. Tasty palate and rich texture. Long finish led by fruitiness and light oaky aromas.
The fermentation occurs in big barrels and with further aging of 6 months on the lees.
