Collection: La Tosa
The “La Tosa” winery was founded by two brothers, Stefano and Ferruccio Pizzamiglio. I am of Milanese origin and as their father was a doctor the Pizzamiglio brothers decided to pursue the same career, thus starting their medical studies. At the same time, during the university, the passion for wine was born in an irrepressible way, so much so that they changed fields of study to specialize in the agricultural and oenological fields.
Like other Milanese families, the Pizzamiglio also owned a country house, used mostly on weekends to escape the city or to spend the holidays. In their case, the estate was located in the Colli Piacentini areas, and in fact, it was here that they decided to found their winery, in the locality of La Tosa, making their debut with the first wine in 1985.
The wines they produce respect the territory and traditions of the area in the style and use of local varieties, such as the Malvasia Aromatica di Candia for the whites and the blending of Barbera and Croatina for the production of Gutturnio. In addition to the wines of the Piacenza tradition, the company also produces wines based on French varieties; for the white Sauvignon Blanc is used while the blending of Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot for the red.
A curious detail is a museum set up in the same cellar, created in 2015, dedicated to the Emilian wine history. A beautiful exhibition where you can see old tools used in the oenological and agricultural fields.
La Tosa is a place rich in history that keeps the memory of tradition alive with their current production of fantastic wines from the Colli Piacentini, where the family has lived and worked since 1985.
